On 1st January 2022 I will release a dance remix of ‘I’ve Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts’ to the world. It samples the original Billy Cotton And His Band version from 1949/1950 and I have remixed it to introduce it to a contemporary audience.

But why?! I started working on this during the lockdown winter / spring 2021 because it happens to be the anthem of the football team I support, Cambridge United. Whenever Cambridge win a home game the songs is played over the tannoys. It’s a tradition that goes back to the 1950s. I’ve been a fan since the mid-90s and it’s part of the experience!

By the spring of 2021, it was looking increasingly likely that we would be able to get automatic promotion but we were banned from meeting up with others outside of our households due to the pandemic, so I had to find another way to celebrate and funnel my excitement. The dance remix was born. So this version is my own unique way of saying thank you to the players and management at Cambridge United for getting us promoted!
